"Is it happenING now?"
"Are they paintING now?"
Contradictory, no? |

-Have I won the lottery? No - do you see me jumping with joy, roaring up in a super new car, etc?
-Am I going to win the lottery? Probably not, and do I really need to, with this ELT racket? Covers me booze and smokes at least.
-Am I going to buy a new car? Probably not, my old Ferrari (a gift from mummah, and pappah) is still running OK.
-Has he got a lottery ticket? Maybe, but when do we ever see any wider context like that? "Hey, have you bought a lotto ticket yet, the rollover jackpot is now over £50 million!". Nice subject change, by the way (has the writer only just twigged that we should be talking about a 'he', as posing questions of oneself to others seems a bit weird even for an ELT classroom!).
-Is this real, or imaginary? Imaginary of course, what do you think this is, the real world? The students don't even know up from down anymore! |
