Dear SahanRiddhi,

Of course he does - he's another low-status EFL teacher.

Actually, John, I'm not teaching and am a part-time and ever lower-status language student. I have oodles of respect for my teacher, because shes very good at teaching the language. But if she started trying to teach IT or handshakes or advised me that my chances of success in Germany would increase tenfold if Id only get my damn hair cut, Id be somewhat disappointed.

BUT, back in the UK, no. My background makes me worth toilet paper

You're being a tad harsh on yourself, don't you think?

P.S. Do you have to go back to the UK?

Well, the school shuts for summer holidays in June so I'll be returning to the UK, yes. Don't want to return to Greece. Had enough.

Considering embarking on the MA full time to get it over and done with in one year. Dread the thought of being cooped up back in in my parents' home but it seems more sensible to get it done with in one year as opposed to 2-5 years by distance.

Cheers for the offer of support.

Dear demitrescou,

Well, I know what you mean about living with your parents. In my case, though, it was probably worse. My Mom died, and my Dad was getting Alzheimer's, so I took some time off and lived with him for a while. We finally talked him into living with my sister's family, and I went back overseas. He died a few years later.

All the best with your MA.

Regards,
John

Definitely worse. Puts things in perspective. Sorry for your loss.
