The Chuo is good since trains come every few minutes during rush hour and there are different express trains.
So, of course the closer you live to a station the more you pay.
I think certain stations are cheaper. Like Higashi-Koganei.
Or farther out, out in Hino.
I think east of Kichijoji gets more expensive, since it is in Suginami ward.
Suginami is good for shopping or restaurants. Koenji has gotten more popular.
So if you can change trains for the subway, or another line of course you pay more.
And of course Nakano, since that is just one stop from Shinjuku on the express train.
The problem is that trains are so crowded in the morning rush hour, if going towards Shinjuku. |

| Ayase, Kameari, Kanamachi - near the river, relatively cheap, many open spaces, good access to shopping and the Chiyoda Line is cheap. |
