I think one should be recompensed for preparation really. This does depend on the quality of said course preparation of course.
If you are writing a syllabus to take students from A2 - B1 on the CEF (Common European Framework), with lessons that cover all skills including grammar reviews, consolidation and the introduction of new target structures, and use phonology, IPA and introduce ellision, intrusion and sentence stress then getting paid is all fair and dandy.
If your syllabus is just a motley and random collection of unrelated material copied from the internet, newspaper stories photocopied and a collection of anecdotal stories, then you probably dont deserve to get paid for preparation time.
Most teachers in China fall into the latter camp however ... dont know a schwa from a dipthong or a 1st / 2nd / 3rd conditional. And I think most employers know that and would be reluctant to pay anything for preparation. |

No one like a mouth piece til they need one....
Writing classes often pay two hours for ne hour of class due to the grading required...perhaps one of those deals will sort it out... |

Why can't you write a comment without coming across as an arrogant little so-and-so?
What's your problem? |
What's yours? You made no comments at all in this thread other than to call me names.
Care to dispute what I said and risk venturing on topic? He can ask for anything he wants. The company has the right to refuse him. Your problem with this is....what exactly? |

OP, how much are you getting paid ?
If the hourly rate is high enough, then all this discussion is probably not needed. |
