DMB:
I thought beer was a drink

I thought it was a major food group, like starch and sugar and burnt crunchy bits.

I thought the major food groups were beer, pizza, burgers, tobacco, coffee, spirits and sausages wrapped in bread with chilli sauce.

I am not sure why exactly this ad is "laughable". The salary is probably enough to support a reasonable lifestyle - if you are single.

The reality in this EFL racket is that most jobs are poorly paid but give you the chance to go somewhere "exotic".

Once you are hooked on EFL-ing and want some decent money your choices are more limited - Japan, Korea, the Middle East.

For those of us with families or other expensive foibles this is a factor limiting where we can go and sell our labour. I have a base in eastern Europe but I cannot work there and support a family from the salaries on offer. So here I am in KSA !

I went and read the add. It is long. But I recognized the logo. I remember seeing that place when I was in Estonia. It's a great location. Right on the tram line, walking (or tram) distance from the major railway station, close to the water (for that sea breeze scent), very close to the old town. Apartments are probably further out, though. But the shiny shoes thing is just for the in-company classes.

Yeah, the salary is gross (take that as a pun if you want) and the tax rate is like 26%.

But they mentioned the possibility of sending your salary off-shore if you have the ability to invoice them. Then the taxes are your problem so you get the full gross.

Anybody ever heard of this possibility before? Sounds interesting.
