Without an abaya they'll be hauled up by the Mutawas.....not a great experience I'm sure!

In the Kingdom Tower/ or Faisalah Tower there is a 'womens only floor'
where they walk around without an abaya, smoke, and generally be 'normal'. Shocked if that's what they want.

Mind you yesterday in Riyadh Gallery I did see a woman with a Moroccan abaya on.... colourful yet muted, but tasteful.

Yes, it is a very rare occurrence. The few times I saw these (uncovered) women were in the mornings. They looked very odd amongst the covered women. I guess they just didn't give a damn about the societal norms. I can't imagine they would get away with it for any length of time without getting caught at some point.

In downtown Khobar (shopping area) I have seen Western women without the abaya. Unusual. In Riyadh and Jeddah I never saw this. Ever.
