Yes, same compound as the massacre. Obviously, they had to revamp the security after that, so it is probably now one of the most secure compounds in the kingdom. Terrorists can strike anywhere, anytime. You take reasonable precautions, but it makes no sense to worry about it beyond that.
@VS, Thanks. I wasn't sure the overseas rule applied when you were working for an American company, getting paid in America with US dollars. Must be what they were referring to. |

you're joking aren't you? Dead easy to get in.
For secure, try BAE... they won't even let you take your car in. |

Maybe true in Riyadh, but for 'Sara "super" compound' in Khobar - that was not true (a year ago).
They do have a visitor's parking area where residents must come to sign you in, but your car is technically on compound at that point.
And also your car can get "stuck" for the night if you don't leave before 9 or 10PM (I forget exactly) RIGHT when the party is getting started, naturally. :p |

Khobar compound is no longer BAe. Everyone has now been moved from the different BAe compounds to a common but more remote one south of Aziziyah that has very tight security.
Yes, you 'technically' park on the compound but it's an outer bailey. When you're picked up by the residents, then they allow you to pass through the portcullis. |

Yes, "Sara" compound.
Maybe I'm not remembering it correctly, but I only remember one portcullis and no inner bailey whatsoever, but then I drink. |
