I'm on that in Oman with an MSc + 12.....so it is available here. |
However, you've been in Oman for some time. Plus, as I recall, your position/duties aren't typical of foundation year teachers in Oman. |

Thanks. I started the MEd in 2006 finished in 2008. So 6 years post MEd.
Does anyone know the best times to be applying for colleges around the Middle East? For example, July for a February 2015 start?
Thanks everyone this is really helpful..
I hear so much about direct hires. Maybe I should bite the bullet on the first year and go to TESOL Arabia 2015. Wonder if TESOL Arabia is worth the investment of time/airfare/hotel/conference fees... |

Foundation Year or Prep Year is common in Gulf Universities. It is aimed at improving English Language skills of students plus sometimes Math and the nebulous "Study Skills". (Which means they have to learn to come on tine with book, notebook and pencil.)
In some of the bigger universities there can be as many as 100 teachers involved in this - mist of them in EFL. |

Obviously, TESOL Arabia's job fair in March is ideal because it's attended by recruiters/hiring managers who sometimes extend an offer on the spot. It's how I got my position in Saudi Arabia. Anyway, it's up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. Other sites to try are TESOL.org's career page and higheredjobs.com. You might also go on individual university sites to check for openings. |
