suphanburi- It looks like we'll be looking more into China and SE then, probably. We would like to be able to travel somewhat cheaply during time off. For China, why exactly do you say it's better to go through a recruiter? Is it harder to get a visa on your own? Haha seems a bit daunting to fly in and then look for a job but iI'v eheard that from a few people. Thanks.

For China and Korea the usual route because of visa issues and/or the potential for airfare allowances/prepayment it is typical for newbies to use a recruiter.
Using multiple recruiters also allows access to a far greater number of jobs in far more places than you could find on your own.
In SE Asia where visas are often not necessary for US tourists AND the employers don't give you anything toward your airfare the majority of people fly in and then look for work.
