Your caution is taken well and in fact I did take some time to look up Raytheon (as it was one I had heard of before) and it seemed like I could well put my resume and at least get some follow-up questions. Again, your realism is taken in the spirit it seems to be intended, as I have heard no end of horror stories in every destination I've been in thus far. |

An online anything won't work in the Gulf Countries. Many employers are now becoming particular about having a CELTA. Never mind that the education of the students in Saudi Arabia is unlikely to benefit or be affected in any way or form due to any kind of acquired educational ability on the part of the teacher. Rather it seems to be making its way as being part of the psycho/narcisso control trip that belongs to many of the administrators, particularly those in Saudi Arabia. |

You are focusing on Saudi. The UAE Ministry of Higher Education (university level) accepts online MAs from accredited universities. While everywhere accepts a CELTA, it is only Saudi that seems to be over focusing on it.

You seem to sort of repeat what I initially said in this thread, which was, "...much of this region doesn't like online anything," except I didn't make a blanket statement about all of the Gulf. As VS pointed out, the UAE has no qualms about degrees completed via online, as long as they're from an accredited university, especially one that offers the same academic program on campus. Additionally, if you check out about a dozen Saudi job ads on this site, you'll rarely, if at all, see requirements specifying a CELTA only---an equivalent TEFL cert is acceptable.
In the OP's situation, if his practicum through his university falls short, he should seriously consider completing a CELTA, PCELT (via AMIDEAST/SIT Grad Institute), or any of the other branded TEFL certs to widen his choice of employment opportunities in the Kingdom since his MAT isn't TEFL focused and nor from an Anglophone university. |
