KAU housing allowance 17000 SR yearly for an M.A. holder - a norm? Or negotiable.

That's the standard housing allowance for MA holders, and it's non-negotiable.

Shukran!

For a woman, if given a chance to choose, is it better to opt for on-campus housing, or take the allowance and find her own place?

It's a personal preference. Some expats don't want to deal with finding their own housing, while others prefer to live wherever they want.

Yes, thanks, but if I choose housing on campus, would I be surrounded mostly by large families and numerous children? [ asked from the quiet-type point of view ]

And the on-campus housing, is it nice, at least nice to any degree?

I have no clue. My understanding is that KAU only provides an annual housing allowance and not employer-provided, on-campus housing. Perhaps this is something new.

There is an option of either - or. Not that I have the option, I don't even have a contract yet, but in the general docs sent by the uni re housing, they say a candidate may be given the allowance or offered on-campus housing instead.
