They're offering 700 Euro per week. No request has been made for money. If it happens, that's when I'd pull out. |
If they are offering 700 Euro per WEEK, it's a scam. (As Spiral said.) But 700 is the amount specified on the Ministry's website--without any indication of a time frame. They mean monthly, of course; but the website doesn't actually say that; they just state the "amount granted" (Dotación.) Could you have misunderstood?
Again, if you were actually told 700/week, it's a scam. But if you read the "700 Euro" figure, and simply concluded it was weekly . . . It would be easy enough to do for anyone unfamiliar with the salary range in Spain.
For anyone interested in this program: be sure you are applying DIRECTLY to the Ministry of Education. (Education, Culture, and Sport, I think.) The information and application is on their website. Don't go through a third party, and DON'T pay a fee!

Either they have quadrupled the salary in the last two years, or . . . This is an extended April Fool's set-up.

I just got a chart showing when orientations are to be held. A bit confusing.
I'm talking to someone on LinkedIn who knows the program, checking out the conditions and salary.
It's funny, but I'm not getting any responses to questions I have asked.
So far, no requests for money. |

They will want money. Let us know.
Oh, by the way, their email address ending is also often a clue to a scam. What is the .com part of their email.com? |

mecd.es (for Espana) - I know to avoid the dreaded .tk ending.
It would seem as though they would at least answer some questions. Most Spanish speakers and readers can answer questions in decent English - but many scammers can't.
On the contract, there is one use of the word "kindly". Nigerian and south Asian scammers use this a lot, as well as "dears". I don't think most Spanish would use anything but "please". |

It's fairly common that scammers hijack the name of real European schools. Anyway, hopefully you haven't sold your car and sub-let your house just yet. |

Well, it's puzzling, to say the least. Westy appears to have the Ministry's actual e-mail: __ @mecd.es.
Perhaps there is a bored/playful/vindictive/sociopathic (choose one) government employee processing applications who is tweaking contracts to create a little havoc for his own entertainment! Well, okay, probably not.

Very interesting!
It would be quite a surprise if an actual ministry is offering 4 X the normal salary given today's economic conditions.
Do keep us posted! |

I sent copies of both F.A.Q pdf's plus my contract letter to the ministry. I asked for clarification of the stipend amount offered, pointing out the discrepancy and had this reply...." 700E/weekly for teachers assigned to Madrid " No mention of why the pdf were giving out different info, just this one line answer........ |
