Hi all,

So I've been checking out Interac and Westgate more. It looks like I may not have enough teaching experience to apply to Westgate. I taught English for 2 semesters. Not sure if that counts up to 500-1000 hours of teaching. Are they that strict about that? Also, do you need to have your certificate before you apply? I was planning on just getting mine before I left.

Thanks again for everyone's insights. I think the stuff about housing is still mighty useful for me to know.

Also, Leo Palace or otherwise the rents will be cheaper outside the Tokyo area.. Maybe in the sticks you can pay 40,000-50,000 per month for a half decent apartment. If the apartment is old or quite far from a train line then prices will also fall.

Are suits required for men at Interac? I don't have one. Sad

It is always good to have at least one suit.
Japan is a fairly formal country, and you will be judged by the clothes you wear.

Going back to opting out of Leo Palace housing, can you opt out anytime? For example, can you move out after living there for two months after you arrive in Japan, or are you bound by a contract to stay at your place for at least a year?

Also, there are suits for summer and for winter.
The winter one is thicker.
The summer ones are light.

Wow, a company that pays very little expects you to have 2 suits? That is pretty low imho

Still sounds more and more like an unpaid internship as the years go by.

I see it as an internship. As one really can't reasonably live off it's salary. Ala the recent internships in the USA
