I've even written memoirs and a short story about how terrible it is. And it isn't even necessarily the teaching side of things that make being here so awful!

I'm still there now...11 months out of 12 here...I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to be honest!

A lot of this thread is now academic since teachers cannot get work visas/work permits. If anyone says they can get you one, it is probably a scam.

Unless something has changed in the last few weeks?

I wouldn't be so quick to assert that teachers cannot get work visas/permits. I very much doubt it is so.

See the other thread on this topic which you started on this board.

To make it worse, Gamajorba was snubbed by one of his Saudi friends from London !

Russia will be better for him. he is an expert at dealing with bureaucrats, and has fluent Russian.

Not everyone has such a negative impression and experience, especially if they choose their employer carefully and are open-minded. Saudi Arabia isn't for those who are high-maintenance or have unrealistic expectations.

Who would want to go to Saudia Arabia? Its an evil country where beheadings are the norm and women have no rights.

Speaking of high maintenance, I'm not sure there'll be too many replies from that quarter...
