This has been a very good read, I supposed it all depends on where one intends to pursue a career in order to determine which course to pursue. |

Here are a few responses to your original questions:
2. For the DELTA, do costs vary by center, as they do with the CELTA?
Yes.
3. How long does the DELTA take to complete?
It varies from 2 months full time intensive to several years part time.
4. How much of the DELTA can be done via distance?
All except two weeks. If you take the distance Delta, you need to do an initial 2 week orientation course face to face. These are run in regional centres - so most people would have to travel and stay in the host city for the two weeks. The rest of the course is online, except teaching practice in Module 2. You need to arrange with a local experienced teacher to observe you and give you feedback - the person needs to be approved by Cambridge. And the final lesson needs to be observed by an external assessor. If there isn't one locally, you'll need to cover their expenses to fly in.
It's possible to do the Delta after two years' full time experience, though most teachers who do it have been teaching for several years. The standard required is quite a step up from Celta. So it makes sense for teachers considering Delta to spend a bit of time working on their teaching beforehand - for instance, being observed, observing other teachers, reading books, participating in professional development (online, through local events etc).

Excellent post. But maybe a typo? Step up from Celta, I take it? |
