The more things change, the more they stay the same. When HCT extended the 40 minute classes to 50 minutes (about 12 years ago) the same argument on what was an hour was posited. |

Playing around with work hours/obligations is just another symptom of HCT's endemic problems. But if a package is rewarding enough, teachers may be able to take a bit of punishment in this regard. However, the central theme of this topic is much more diabolical. To lure, falsely suggest, mislead, coax or financially burden candidates who have been through a number of layers of scrutiny... to have passed that scrutiny and then have the audacity to ask for costly and troublesome documentation...only to be abruptly cast aside without further explanation...means that the people involved in this process lack any moral compass or professional ethics. Are the people responsible for this behaviour Emirati or Western lackeys? I can hear many of you saying, "Come on... you're in the Middle East! What do you expect?" I don't care if it's Kalathumpia. If an institution the size of HCT is stepping into the educational big league... it better have a modicum of decency.
While it's certainly true that morally bereft scum can hijack any organization anywhere, it may serve to help those of us with a few morals and ethics left, to remember the one thing that will bring these sociopaths back down to Earth. That thing can be summarised in one word... comeuppance.
After all is said and done... HCT has some major league morons in management. It reeks of all the management failures that inevitably lead to dysfunction, wide spread disgruntlement, suspicion, delusion, instability...need I go on? In places like HCT one needs to find a mental and psychological nook or cranny to hide in to survive. With specific reference to recruitment, no one rips the proverbial carpet from under highly qualified and experienced candidates in such a manner unless they are utterly vile, reprehensible individuals. The only reason they do this is a lack of fear. If they feared a comeuppance for their behaviour they would give their actions and the consequences of them proper consideration. If you care to search (HCT sucks) you will find a blog naming and shaming. The author was apparently paid a good chunk of change to stop publishing. You see... HCT scum... I think you do understand the concept of a comeuppance. So, who in HCT admin is arbitrarily culling approved candidates after all that scrutiny, correspondence and demand for expensive documentation? Who is telling the approved candidates to spend a bag of money to attest documents and then discontinue their candidacy? Who are these people? For they surely deserve no mercy...as HCT sucks demonstrated and they certainly don't deserve the positions they are holding. |

Hello, only1life,
We can't rationalize with an irrational person. We can't instill empathy in the remorseless. Many are aware of the blog. Yep, it S _ C K S!
Never heard the blogger was paid off.
By the way, it goes both ways as to culpability - ex-pats and the Ems.
Remember, it's a factory model. To stretch the analogy, we are so aware of all the recalls on defective cars and airbags....... One can read between the lines.
Regards,

As I heard it, that blogger was paid his past monies due... which wasn't paid at the time of his departure. He got what was due but didn't feel the need to stop blogging his opinions.

I can confirm that the blogger known as 'Suede Oasis' was not paid off - that posting was an April Fools prank, as any fule no!
The lack of recent postings is due to a lack of information. So send in your stories of shaming and degradation, please! |

Few of us really find those sort of personal attack blogs worthy of more than a cursory glance every few months... at most. I suspect that most of the people that have been smeared over the years are gone anyway, Suede. It is hardly needed any longer as HCT has now managed to kill off any positive comments that might have come up.
They have burned their bridges... and become a job that only the desperate will accept.

VS please rein in your pomposity a tad and refrain from speaking for 'us'.
Suede Oasis speaks of what he knows. Not things he's been 'experiencing' vicariously for the last quarter of a century. |

Who is speaking for you? You have always been able to speak for yourself as I do for myself and those of us who find these sort of personal attack blogs to be... rather juvenile with their little created nicknames.
Not to mention that he's been gone for quite awhile now too... soon you can start complaining about his silly personal attacks on individuals that he hasn't met or worked for...

I lost count of the number of teachers lured from KSA to HCT in the belief that the grass was greener. Predictable results. The brave ones came back to KSA, suitably humbled.
One factor for some in moving to HCT was the rather stingy education allowance available at state universities in KSA, |

I gotta agree. I've never worked at HCT, but find that blogger's tiresome tactic of publicly naming-n-shaming specific individuals and labelling them as "unethical" to be blatantly hypocritical on his part, especially since he hides behind a wall of anonymity. His tactic is unethical, and therefore, his hypocrisy kills his credibility. Besides, that blog is nothing more than ranting. |
