Oh come on! Do you earn £4000 + and it being tax free in this UK? Didn't realise the UK was a Tax Haven!

Teachers were being paid that salary in 2009 and now around 3000 onwards, but Vocational Colleges are paying around 2000-2500.

Nothing to do with self worth.... However my worth is unlimited Very Happy

I think 3000 plus benefits should be the least anyone comes out for. There are higher and lower paying jobs out there obviously.

If more people refused jobs based on salary, the higher the average salary would then become.

Salaries for EFLing in KSA are not astronomical. BUT remember it can be a cheap place to live and you get housing provided..

Nomad Soul posted a realistic reply. 4000 BP... No idea where you get that for an EFL lecturer position. Maybe Aramco, for males, otherwise a good salary here is around 14 000 SR. EFL lecturer's salaries are definitely not astronomical in KSA, nowadays at least. I do not find what is advertised on job ads on reeds.co.uk or here to be anywhere near 4000 BP. Correct me if I'm wrong, though, like, paste an ad or something.

I guess they'r not the average salary, but the jobs are out there. Aramco / OilGas / Military / CoE all pay around that figure.

We could go into the endless swings and roundabouts conversation about whether your paying for flights or getting your own accommodation etc. etc. ad nauseam.

We'r all here for money, why settle for less?

I have an interview with Oxford Partnership in a few weeks and would love to hear from anyone working on the other campuses (Ar'ar or Al Qurayyat)- I haven't worked in KSA before and my instinct is to try a year working for one of the colleges (have offers from King Saud bin Abulaziz and others) and then try working for the Partnership when I am a little more acclimated and have better spoken Arabic.

Please PM me or post any thoughts or experience.

You don't need Arabic when teaching English in KSA.....that gets DRUMMED into everyones' head.....on the campus, in classroom, in fact wherever there is a collection of students!

Secondly I cannot believe you would turn down university jobs to work in god-forsaken places in Vocational Colleges. Doesn't make sense irrespective of whether you have teaching experience or not; if the opportunity has been given to you for KSU, PNU, etc, my advice would be to take it because those universities are in Riyadh rather than Border towns with Yemen,,etc.

I worked with teachers who didn't even have degree never mind teaching qualifications and they were at PNU and KSU!
