I have an interview with them tonight. I'm thinking I'll do the practice lesson like I speak to my niece and nephew, lots of hand gestures, smiley faces, clapping and singing.
I'll let you guys know how it goes, what they ask me and why they decline me or why they hire me, if they hire me.
Sharing is caring right? My stats: 0 years of ACTUAL teaching experience, 2 years of English tutoring/language partner, 1 year of teaching assistance for 9th grade English class ESL students, 1 year of teaching assistance for a college electronics class.
I'm 29/M, but I look very young for my age, usually confused for early 20's:

51 is very old in China. You're basically at retirement age here. Plenty of job advertisements have an upper age limit of 35 or 40. BTW, there is no such thing as a young looking 50yo. Hate to burst your bubble. |

The low age limits aren't uncommon in Thailand, either. It's ironic how often I see the same job re-posted, less than two months later. They are free to hire, whomever they choose to hire. The gullibility of the young is likely more important than the maturity of the older applicants. What do you think about the saying "25 is the new 16"? Hint: It's not very complimentary of Millennials. |

I don't think they are looking for guys to be feminine, just fun and energetic. I watched the videos and none of the buys seemed to act feminine. |

I worked with lots of people in their 40s and 50s in China and think the ageist hiring bias and social vibe is much more a factor elsewhere in Asia, like Thailand, Indonesia, etc.
And the remark about no such thing as a young-looking 50-year-old is frankly kind of a **** thing to say. Obviously he meant young for his age. |

I agree. My dad is 66 but you would never guess it from how he looks. |
