As it turned out my iqama was already renewed days ago. Apparently the process is so streamlined now they don't even need the old iqama or any photos.

But the hopeful news is that my visa still looks good. On the muqeem site it still says 'visa is valid' and yes, inside the kingdom.

I will see for sure next week if the visa still actually works. But so far it's looking good.

First worked there in 1970.

And besides, in Saudi especially, I'd say this holds true:

"Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" Very Happy

Regards,
John

P.S. Just for any possible future reference, I departed the Kingdom in 2003,
Perhaps you were confusing scot47 with me, nomad - understandably, since we look so much alike. Very Happy

The ignorant think they are smart; the smart know how truly ignorant they are.

So, because I know how very ignorant I am, I'm really the smarter one. Very Happy

Regards,
John

I prefer to think of johnslat and Scot47 as Jack and Victor from the BBC Scotland comedy programme Still Game.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/42/Still_Game_Title_Card.png

For the uninitiated, Still Game is about a group of OAPs (that's "retirees" to you colonials) in Glasgow. Their vocabulary is rather colourful.

Dear grahamb,

Scot's the retiring one; I've still got nose to the grindstone at 72. Just finished up four 55+ hour weeks as ESL manager/teacher at Santa Fe Community College.

Retire? Bah, humbug.

Regards,
John

Never let it be said that John is shy and retiring.

Dear grahamb,

Well, I have been called about three bricks shy of a load.

And when the tread gets thin, I always retire. Safety first.

Regards,
John

Is that the same as a couple of cans short of a six-pack, John? I tried converting it using an online forex calculator, but no joy.
