I thought I'd share this email response I got from the British Council regarding their Word Family Framework.

Many thanks for your positive feedback on the Word Family Framework.

With regard to the discrepancies between our framework and that of Cambridge, I can only say that the resource is the result of research by a group of PHD students and produced over a period of several months. Whilst every effort was made to validate our framework with that of Cambridge and to make it as accurate as possible, there will always be some variations. In terms of practical usage, I think the WFF is to be used as a guide and applied boradly in the context of each teacher's learners and their proficiency within the CEF level.

Best wishes

Paul

Research by PhD's? I can't imagine they're unaware of what Cambidge itself has profiled.
