All the primary schools that I have taught at in Myanmar had CCTV in all classrooms. I never gave it a second thought. Perhaps other teachers are more paranoid than me.

The CCTV was useful when kids maybe got hurt or where one child/parent accused another of starting a fight. Just look back at the CCTV and the circumstances of any problem were clear.

In any case, there was always a spot in the classroom which CCTV did not cover, and one could box the student's ears without risk.

That last para was a joke BTW Smile

I have had Saudi administration try to have cameras installed on several occasions. They were interested in catching teachers not doing their job correctly. Remember the students can do no wrong. They are Saudi.

But if a teacher slips up, for instance if he lets a student nod off to sleep for even an instant, then the supervisor has the ammunition he needs to have him fired.

If students are not learning the blame falls, always with no exception, on the teacher. They can always bring in another teacher...they can't do anything about the lack of motivation on the part of the students.

Teachers work hard at making themselves indispensable just in case their students go and complain about them. Make yourself an expert at powerpoint slides or grammar mumbo jumbo and they will think you are the cat's meow...that is the kind of protection you will need in case you offend uncle Saleh's kid and he goes crying to the administration.

grammar mumbo jumbo: After modal + verb be you must verb 1 + ing....this is the kind of nonsense that passes for English language instruction in KSA. This kind of stuff really prepares students to become fluent in English. (sarcasm)
