Tis but a short ferry ride to the home of the deep fried Mars Bar.
I can't comment on KFC, although I believe it was formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken until authorities noted the featherless and genetically-modified mutants raised couldn't be classified as chicken. Well, that's the anecdotal story anyway.
As for Starbucks, I'm no coffee connoisseur, but right now in Malaysia, for example, the alternative is sugary nescafe sweetened with condensed milk with a few spoonfuls of extra sugar just in case your pancreas needs reminding who's boss.
Scot47, being a cultural pioneer, would enjoy ten cups a days of the local fudge, as would his dentist. I've no doubt my large latte from Starbucks has a few spoonfuls of sugar thrown in, but I sort of know what I'm getting when in exotic lands, i.e. not Europe. |

Starbucks has saved me in airports a few times
Thankful that I have better options in my own neighborhood, though. |

I consume large quantities of coffee, but do not trust any of the Enterprises I have come acoss. Not in Scotland and certainly NOT in Malaysia. When in doubt I resort to a cup of tea. |

Have you ever drunk tea abroad?
Chinese tea ranges from cold and bland through to hot and soapy. German supermarkets have 1592 varieties of tea, including tea that gets you pregnant, tea that stops you getting pregnant, tea that you can drink before bedtime and stomach tea (I kid ye not). The whole of Asia outside of China seems to offer Liptons, and I'd rather throw the tea bags away and infuse the bright yellow box.
If tea is your safe option, you must carry a pack of Tetley on your intrepid outings to Kuala Lumpur. |

Ah, the thread has morphed into something I am interested in.
Tea is Twinings Loose All Day Breakfast, brewed in a pot; coffee is a ground Italian such as Lavazza, made using an AeroPress or Cafetière. |

An attack of gout at 5 am on Sunday reminded me that I should be careful about what I eat during the Festive Season. Next time it will be bread and water.
