Hi Kong,
I am reading your thread now. This is news to me. I am using Global Visa Services based out of Ottawa and my agent and I have been in consistent contact.
I wasn't a direct hire though. I did need to attest THEN authorize my CELTA but my BA wasn't because it is a Journalism major.
I sent her all of my letters of reference and documents. From what she told me, I am set. I do need a visa number.
However, hearing this is very worrying. Honestly, this will be my last contract in the ME. it is too much of a hassle for documentation and the visa number is pretty much at the mercy of whomever is doing your paperwork. |

Correction on my part about you being a direct hire, although you stated in other threads that you signed a contract "with" the University of Dammam.
Anyway, the OP already has his/her employment visa in hand, so the employer's request for attested employment verification documents doesn't seem to be a visa requirement. |

Hi,
I'm in a similar situation. I'm a direct hire also. I received my visa after a couple months of processing/attesting/running about.
Just as I'm trying to sort out the flights, they say I need to get all my experience letters attested in order to get the agreed upon salary.
I was hoping there was an easy solution to this.
Does anybody know if previous Saudi Arabia experience also needs to be attested?
Thanks. |

Ask your uni contact person if the Saudi experience documents need to be attested. Frankly, the employer should inform job candidates about this requirement during the interview and not after the visa has been issued.
Only a few posters have mentioned needing attested experience letters. It's unknown if this requirement is per the same employer since no has indicated the name of the university. |

I have got confirmation that the Saudi experience does NOT need to be attested.
It seems like the attesting of experience letters is all related to the salary calculation. Withholding this info til the last minute is ridiculous! |

Actually, employment verification letters/certificates are not uncommon throughout the Gulf for direct-hire positions. And yes, they're used to calculate salary. However, it's only been within the last 6 or so months that a couple of posters have mentioned having to get theirs attested.
It comes across as sneaky; the employer waits until the last minute because they know the job candidate won't be able to get all the letters attested, and thus, will have their salary offer reduced.
By the way, which university is requesting attestation? |

Perhaps attestation is primarily for experience gained outside the Gulf. What other countries/regions have you worked in? |
