Anyone else care to weigh in on heading over on a tourist VISA?

Almost any other country in Asia, I'm all game, but Japan always hits my wallet hard. I really like to eat and Japan is a tough city to just eat curry and ramen in.

I'll likely start hitting applications way early, and way more often, if I take the Osaka route.
