Depends. History is actually a good subject to test the 'ability' of Asian students. Normally you are introducing new and complex terms and ideas to them.

Of course, maybe they are good in history because, for instance, they can name all the English kings and queens because they have memorised. However, if they can give you an 'out of the box' thinking why, for instance, William the Conquerer won or how history may have changed if x had happened or y, then they've shown surprising out of the box thinking for an Asian student.

Thanks for the info.

As for HOD, etc. I do not see why he keeps saying that.

Whether he believes me or not, I did go to an Ivy League school, got a near perfect GPA, got a 98th percentile on SAT writing, and a 99.9 percentile on the GRE essay.

I'm sorry I make stupid grammar mistakes.

But, if I truly am who I say I am, it negates his expertise. If he would be incorrect about such a big assumption, how many other thought mistakes have been made.

Curious work. I've sometimes seen what I assume are 'full-time' English nannies living with a Chinese family. They've consistently looked miserable. I wonder what the attraction is vs a regular teaching job?

Now that I think about it, I recall some posts about an English nanny working in Hong Kong a few years back. She earned a ridiculously low salary for HK (around 6,000 RMB / month).

This is not educated English usage.

@Santi84. I am genuinely grateful for your assistance. I always appreciate advice, just not comments about me that are untrue and unhelpful.
