Not only is the "university" paying the same crap wages that you would get at some run of the mill school, you risk going to jail over it. I wouldn't even email them back.

The bottom line is don't be persuaded to come on a tourist visa.

I taught for five years on business visas in Guangzhou, and I suggest that horror stories of Chinese prisons or jails are written by those who love horror stories but are short on the facts of what goes on on the ground. Some of my posts on the subject can be found under my old identity, "mrenglish". The biggest problem you will have teaching on 60-day-run visas in Beijing is the cost of running to Hong Kong. I have heard tales of people going to Qingdao and taking a ferry to Seoul, but whether this is cheaper in time or money compared to going to Hong Kong I have no idea.

Does anybody have teaching experience with Renmin university in Beijing?
Apparently, they don't provide Z visa but offer employment with them on F (business visa) which has to be renewed every 60 days in Hong Kong.
Is it totally illegal to earn income using F visa? The recruiter said that that is how other teachers are employed by this institution. How safe is that?

I have the low down on this job, if you're interested.

I guess you've already taken it, by now.

Yes, I listened to some of the crackheads on here.

It put me back 2 years with their scaremongering.

Jerky Boy,

You have been given pretty consistent advice. Now you call the people who tell you things you don't want to hear crack heads. Smooth move, dude.

Go to some other forums and see what you are told.

While you're at it, when you're told the same thing, call them crack heads and see what happens..

It's time to move on.

Fact is, you should only comment if you know. Conjecture or claiming this and that ... in certain situations working on a business visa is perfectly safe.

I listened to all the hooting and hollering about this on here a few years back and it put me off a good opportunity. In effect, that set me back two years.

Take what posters say with a pinch of salt.

They should only make claims when they are fairly certain. The Chinese themselves are the masters of misinformation. Don't make things worse.

PS See you in jail!

I know what the visas are for. Take a look at the Chinese consulates' web pages, and see for yourself what each visa is for. If you made the effort to read earlier posts, you'd get a good understanding of what each visa is used for.

No, I've never tried to do what you want to do. Why not contact a Chinese embassy and ask someone?

Whining about not wanting to enter China and work on a Z visa isn't going to score you any points, Rocky.

Nor will calling forum members crack heads get you anything except the label of troll.

I suggest that you move on.
