| A bit off topic, but why do people send messages but delete them later? |

| And why do people post such long posts!!! I just want to know if you can process a Z visa in Hong Kong then or preferably in Seoul and Tazz says you can I think. But the school haven't contacted me at all even though the recruiter said look out for their skype request. Still it's ONLY 21000 RMB per month which is not much more than 70,000 Taiwan Dollars or 2.6m Korean Won I think. Now if it were 25,000+ then it would be worth going through hell and high water to get this job. Still, 21000 with free accommodation isn't bad I suppose. |

| The process of obtaining the Z visa-at a Chinese visa centre, not the embassy, is straightforward-but is only possible for certain districts/ provinces. I'm in Guangxi-where you can. In fact I'm in Guangxi because you can! One of my main reasons for coming here was that I wouldn't need to fly back to UK....best to check with somebody 'in the know'-maybe the recruiter? Or employer? to see if this an option. |

"completed master's programs"
"postgraduate degrees were required to have at least two years' of work experience" |

That's true, but your average college graduate off the boat is a Bachelor's degree graduate, not a Master's degree graduate.
I think when people give advice or update on new rules that they should delineate this more. Newcomers should see the clear distinction. |
It seems to me that this announcement was in line with noting this was for completed master program candidates and does not incl. just off the boat grads .... likely with new restrictions coming to Beijing, the requirement for at least some work experience will still be required along with a tightening of work restriction for those from non native countries. |

I am 99% sure you can't in Seoul (the only source I have to the contrary is this link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz0zVVTFLoY ). For Hong Kong, it depends on where you go. It would be better to find out from your school or recruiter, or you can post the location of where you are going and someone who has done the process recently in the same area can update us. Help us help you. That's why there are long posts. People say "What (insert vague general request)?" but they don't provide details of their situation. So, we have to play detective with "what if scenarios". If your job is in Beijing or Hebei, from my experience, Hong Kong is the way to go (Seoul was not an option anymore). |

| The job interview has not materialised. He said look out for them to contact me. Anyway, my work permit has come through for Taiwan so I am going there. Only 2 hours to Cebu and a bit to see my GF. If you can't process a Z visa in Seoul that's stupid cos it is only just over an hour away to Beijing. There's no Chinese here where I am. Dunno about Seoul but there doesn't seem to be any Chinese in Korea as far as I can see. Only Koreans are in Korea and English teachers. No one likes the food here probably that's why. I just hope Taiwanese food is a lot better. |

My online South Korean students always complain bitterly about the hordes of Chinese tourists these days - so there must be some. They are very fond of the food too.
I think your choice is a wise one considering the pollution and visa hassles the PRC possesses these days. Less daily frustration to deal with and you can always tutor there to increase your income. Hope you enjoy the smell of stinky tofu! |

| I am hoping Taiwan will have Chinese curry like you can get at takeaway shops in England. Chicken curry, chicken sweet and sour with egg fried rice...yum yum. Korea food tasty???? I've never eaten such tasteless food in my life and I have been here 6 months. There are just one or two dishes which are ok. I don't need to tutor privates really as I also teach online for a major company and I have had like about 50 30min lessons in less than a week this week. It pays $8 per 30 min lesson or $16/hr and I have almost $800 this month so far because I got done over with my day job by my hakwon and I am currently just opening up all my slots during the day now. A couple of days ago I did 22 lessons and the company sent me an invitation for something saying they were impressed. Today hasn't been so good though only 5 lessons so far. It's therefore only worth my while going out to teach privates if I am making more than $16/hr or if it's at time slots where no student would book. I have a labour board case for 30 days pay in lieu of notice against my hakwon but unless they hold the hearing before the end of this month, I won't be able to get my month's pay in lieu of notice. |
