I had an interview with Al Nawa from Oman last August.
For some reason, they were unable to use Skype but they got round this by using Google Hangouts |

Just discovered that saudi Aramco students have started being sent here - what Aramco facilities are nearby and why would they send them to a college dealing with students at A1 level (or below, as I've been informed). |

Just put up with the bullshit for six months. You should be making around 4,000 pound per month,
The MoE and their contractors are thoroughly corrupt. Don't get too involved. Just finance whatever it is you want for your life. |

They cannot do video Skype interviews from Saudi because video calls such as Skype and Facetime are banned there |
Now that is a load of ****. Many colleges & universities do them. You can use FaceTime provided you're proxy literate. |
Yes. I just had a skype interview in Sauditwodays ago. Voice only but recently had one with camera last month so it's definitely not banned !
I wanted to ask though what the district itself is like, e.g. is it out in the middle of nowhere? Is there anything to do etc? |

Not in the middle of nowhere. From Al-Quwayiah people travel to the middle of nowhere for recreation. |
Thanks |

There is quite a long video on Youtube from a teacher who was there in 2015 (ignore the Christian gospel music used as a soundtrack).

Re: Al-Quwayiah
I know two people who have left there recently. They tell me the staff turnover is very rapid and there wasn't a full complement of teachers in their time there because of this.
One of the two did a runner because he had a low regard for the management. He stayed 3 months.
The other resigned after eight months because it is very difficult to leave the town at the weekends. He was effectively confined there. It is indeed in the middle of nowhere.
The better than average pay was not enough to keep them. |

I kind of got the impression there wasn't much there. After looking at the video Siobhan posted it's basically in the desert. Riyadh and Bahrain are also a long way away. I was interviewed for a job there recently and told I would be put on a waiting list as they had already filled all the posts. The company were also offering better than average pay too. I guess it's ok if you want to save money as there isn't really anything to spend your money on there unless you go to Riyadh or Bahrain every weekend. But I can understand how the place would drive some people nuts. |
