That is nice to hear. I have heard that Zhengzhou has decent bars and women. I also heard that Wuhan is the birthplace of rock music in China. Do they have decent expat scenes there?

Why come to China if what you're looking for is California?

Because the bars are a lot cheaper and the women will actually talk to you in China?

California...ugh. Pretty much the embodiment of everything I hate.

So what you are looking for is a polite/cheap California where your white skin still has currency.

Comparing UK to China:

Better wages

Rubbish. Wages are depressingly low in the UK unless you're an MP.

Ability to elect a leader
Yeah, Teresa May, or maybe Boris Johnson will take over from her. Besides which they're not leaders, they're representatives. Where did this idea that we need to be led come from? Or do you think we need leaders the way they Chinese do?

Good education [best 2 universities in the world, best private high school in the world]

Great if you have rich parents who belong to the 1%

Good at sports [beat China, a country with 26 times the population, in the Olympics and at major sports like football, rugby etc.]
Serioulsy, who the hell cares?

Free amazing healthcare
Free at the point of sale only. We pay some of the highest taxes and national insurance and the NHS is still being run down and sold off to private business. It's simply no longer the best in the world. The only amazing thing would be getting surgery without a six month to two year wait.

Clean air
Buildings which are hundreds if not thousands of years old
World class sites and cities with amazing museums and parks
Amazing history
So like Spain, The Netherlands, France, Sweden and probably hundreds of other countries then.

Influence on the entire world [language and culture]
Let's not forget how much of the 'English' language is actually Latin, Greek, German and French in origin. And let's face the fact that the UK is a sad shadow of it's former self. Or that most of that influence to which you allude came from pillaging and murdering our way across a third of the globe.

The UK today has little or nothing to brag about. It seems to me that a large part of the reason for that is people's constant banging on about past glory while steadfastly refusing to accept the current situation and getting on with doing something about it. Manufacturing, shipbuilding, mining, all sold off or shipped out to make more money for the already obscenely wealthy. What's left? A nation of call centre employees and complainers who still vote Tory and cheer the queen because they simply cannot accept that the UK is finished until the people take real control back from the 1%.

So in other words, nothing like California at all. A California without Californians and Californian prices.
