I think living in Mexico has changed me a lot, in some ways that I'm aware of and probably in many ways that I haven't noticed yet.
Some of the changes that I'm aware of (all jumbled together in one paragraph) . . .
Since moving to Mexico, I've become a lot less trusting of people in general. Most people here play by a very different set of rules/ethics than I was accustomed to. I find that I worry a lot less about things here. I still get angry or upset about things, but not nearly as often, and when I get angry about something, I find that I get over it much more quickly than I did when living in the States. I think I've become somewhat desensitized to poverty, lax standards of sanitation and safety, bureaucratic processes, unfairness, low quality of products and services, and no doubt other things, too. I've become much less materialistic, especially regarding things for the home. I know my life has slowed down a lot and become simpler since moving to Mexico. |
