| Personally, I refuse to use any of these use-names. That kind of thing is fine on the internet where the purpose is to protect your identity, but I like to think a teacher-student relationship should be closer than that. |

Chinese studenet english names are just too weird too believe. Especially when in the same class the combinations of two names can be quit comical.
In one class I had three girls named: CHERRY, TOMATO, SANDWICH. In the same class was a girl named PARSLEY.
Other weird names of students I taught.:
FOCKER (pronounced wrongly by the student)
FORTY AND A HALF
*beep*
HIMEN
WHITEHORSE
WATERBOY
SARA LI
MINITURE
Then there are the false english names.
I ask my students what their english name is in the first class and many of them give names like Boris, Yukio, Natasha, Antonio, Carlos, and other names which are more likely to be Japanese, Spanish, or Russian. |

Jerry
Cherry
Barry
Mary
Carrie
Larry
Gary
Sherie
Harry
Perry
Terry
All in one class! (yes, I named them)
BECAUSE:
It really helps their listening skills, believe it or not. |

I don't particularly like the name Foster. I did used to like the beer. Just doesn't seem the same anymore.
Now 4nic8r, that's a cool name, and a lovely picture. |

Having lived in the southern US for so long, I have come across some of the worst names. Try these:
Shanquonesea
Jamonqiukia
Tatarhonda
Kintavious (also spelled "Kentavious" and "Quentavious")
Kristal Kanidiwyne
Pretti (first name) Dancer (last name)
(oh and these were all children, no strippers)
They make me wonder not only what their parents were thinking, but also how the little ones learn to spell their names in kinderschool.

If you met one hundred Dylans, wouldn't that name become a little typical? |

The thing is, lots of kids are saddled with the expectations of the weird names their parents give them. I had three students called Pretty, Princess and Lovely and they were vain, self-obsessed and spoiled. I also had a kid named Doughnut and he was the most obese 6 year-old I've ever seen.
Oh wait, it was me that called him Doughnut... |

How about orangejello, or lemanjello, ( pronounced oran-j-lo and lemond- j-lo) I went home recently and in a supermarket the check out girl's name was Tequila. What are parents thinking about when they name their kids?Maybe they had one too many shots of te-kill-ya |

Phew-not on the list.
It does seem a name can make or break you. My Canadian friend married to a Japanese just named her child Maya which is a good compromise tho maybe not so good here in Latin America.
I have to add:
Kevin
Brian
Tammy
Scott
Walter
Herman
Bernie
Nelson
names of less than 3 letters
color names
most place names
the child names of most celebrities
did we have Brittany on the list?
Mary or most names that rhyme with it
Jennifer has been overdone
If I had a child I would name him/her ?%! |

Twin boys? I'm gonna laugh if you know them too! Surely there aren't two sets of parents who would do that! |
