Well, we non-Americans date Chinese chicks too, yet no one would call us "imperialists". Why is that?
COme to think of it - most of us don't date Chinese girls at all; the Chinese girls look for us, pick us and bed us - or not. IMperialism? Imperialism in reverse!

A tried & tested thread which will be followed with the inevitable 'if you don't like it you should go home'

Yes maybe we need to tart this up a bit, e.g. 'Meditations after my first month in China: when will these scum realise they aren't civilised at all, 5000 years my arse'
bit long Laughing

'I've never taught or traveled before, can anyone please tell me where I should work & who I should work for, I am looking for the highest salary and shortest hours possible '

Usually followed by lot of posts demanding the OP do a search

Absolutely, but these don't tend to last so long

' Anything to do with EF '
Always lots to talk about there

As an ex-EFer I like that one Smile Let's see, can we make it: 'EF has the best pay and conditions in the TEFL world, bar none (thoughts after my first week in China)'
well come on guys, I'm sure you can improve on that Smile

'Anything to do with dating - goes down like a sh*t sandwich on the Japanese forum'
As stated, not popular on the Japanese forum, incredibly popular on the Chinese forum & not mentioned on the Indonesian forum - draw your own conclusions about tha one!

What does it mean? People don't like dating in Japan or Indonesia?

I think it's because the western imperialist English teachers in Indonesia don't need any help. In fact they don't even need to learn the language. In the right (?) kind of bar, a simple grabbing of the arm/dragging out by the hair/saying, "me you go home" seems to be all the dating advice they need.

Dating doesn't go down well (excuse the pun) on the Jap forum as most teachers are afraid to even mention it for fear of being fired!! Gets tons of responses on the China forum as everyone is searching for it but most don't know where to get it & as for Indonesia - well, let's just say it's neither rocket science nor a fine art for the boys over there!

I'm in China & can't wait to return to Indonesia Laughing

If you're sitting around waiting for them to jump you, you're not being da man.

OTOH, if you're pulling them -- hats off to you!

When I was in Korea, the Koreans hated the U.S., of course, but a lot of academics raced their pregnant wives right over to California so they could dop the pups on American soil and get themselves a real live US citizen in the family; better than a green card any day.

'Why are Western women so fat/ugly/unfeminine'

'Calling Western d y k e s-the chicks here lurve me' (I loathe the word 'chick' by the way, except in the ornothological sense.)

'Correct spelling/grammar is a myth; it's the meaning that counts'

'You wouldn't have a country without the Brits' (just came off the Empire thread-I really should talk to my wife more)

I live smack dab in the middle of one of those citizenship farms right now.

I swear, the international ladies are all either pregnant or pushing strollers.

Is it called the East Sea or the Sea of Japan?
Who are better mothers? Koreans, Japanese, or Americans?
Which is better, American football or rugby? Rolling Eyes
Who has better teeth and legs, Japanese, Koreans, or Thais?
Who looks better? Miss Trinidad and Tobago or Miss Slovenia?
Which is the best bar to go to in such-and-such town?
Where is the best place to get laid in such-and-such town?
Who is vainer? Koreans or Japanese?
Who are better? Australians or Kiwis?
And is "Kiwis" and offensive term, or should we be politically correct and call them New Zealanders? And what about the Maoris? And oh my goodness do not ask this parellel question on the Japanese forum?
Anyway 90% of the conversations can be summed up like this: let's go back to Pre-Algebra, where "X" ALWAYS equaled "Y", (just for the sake of arguement). Well some of us have moved on to calculus where there are, like, unknown variables that change the equation everytime.

"Etiquette: How to Master It," by Richard B. Cheney

"Tell the Truth -- Always," by Oliver North and Elliot Abrams

"Democracy for Dummies," by Iyad Allawi (ghost-written by Paul Bremer)

"Spelling Made Simple," by Dan Quayle
