| I loved the White Horse on Parsons Green too. I remember they used to invite the Royal London Chocolate Society by for Belgian beer and Chocolate nights where they showed you how to mix and match your Belgian beer 'n (unlimited, free) Belgian chocolate for ultimate synergy. Gotta love that. |

Been a long time since our paths have crossed, hasn't it Caper? You ever going to make it to the UK or what?

"What"
No, seriously...no idea. I don't have any plans to visit in the near future. I'm actually waiting for someone to come out with a c.ockney dictionary so I'll know what the heck you guys are saying. |

Well I have always been a fan of a good old local as I am an Aussie and that culture is still alive in my country! I dunno, before I came to Japan I used to drink a lot at the local Yacht Club. Now that I'm in Japan I now drink at a local sushi bar where the publican is nice, sometimes gives me free beers, and I usually return the favour by giving him a swig of my OP Bundaberg Rum or some Aussie wine.
In Japan there are still a lot of those Mom and Pop bars around but it's just the food is different, the language is different and the place is a lot smaller......... |

Ah, here's a good subject.
Since I live in rural America our "local" is usually someone's dooryard or basement rigged up for long-term drinking.
Kegs are bought if there's a crowd. Cheap whiskey, cheap coffee brandy abound.
I love drinking after a hard day's work, yessir.
But...if I had to describe a real bar around here...there's the Black Bear, which is full of the requisite millworkers, whores, alkie businessmen, and upstanding teachers like myself. |

So the keg phenomenon does exist in the States - I just thought it was something done in the movies!
This part of american drinking culture sounds absolutely fantastic! I love the concept of buying a keg and drinking it with conviction and urgency until the thing's empty. Great excuse to get blind drunk. |

Oh goddess yes the keg party exists in the States! I dont know how anyone gets through 4 years (or more! ) of college without the occasional kegger.
I sure did a lot of stupid and fun stuff back when I was young, stupid and invincible..... |
