i'm hearing you with the black female bit with staring and all. i too can
not walk down the street without watching at least 10 tongues drop, 5 couples whispering, 3 people blatently pointing and of course the ocasional person that trips over something as he is not watching where he is going. and of course since i am black i must be from africa (not that there's anything wrong with that, but hey i'm jamaican- born and bred in canada never been to the continent in my life!) |

Hi NMB
I started at this place just over a year ago,its a new uni and basically the place is not too bad ,but like everywhere else there is a downside. In answer to the op happy is not a word that springs to mind ,but, having said that the options in this city are limited .
The salary would make ghost sit up and take notice esp if he was involved in teacher training, they are creaming it and teach a whole 12 hours a week .
There are'nt any flight tickets or housing allowance of any kind but the food is ok ,the boss lady only speaks to you to bawl you out and the whole atmosphere is one of mild frustration, tinged with a good dose of fear and loathing ,just like back home really .If you want more juice NMB give me a pm and I can give you more of an idea about the pros and cons of the place , I really don't want to say too much on an open forum . |

And those who can't train teacher trainers do Ph.D degrees and write theoretical books about education and related areas. |

You all reckon you're happy, but I know there must be sth up, so check out the latest poll. Many of you conspiracy theorists think I'm up to sth, what with making all these polls, but I'm just trying to get a sense of what's wrong with TEFL in this country (as if I didn't already know the answer). |
