I was on 4,500 in my first year and they put this up to 5000 for my second year.
Thinking about it, and judging what people are saying on here, I should have looked somewhere else, or negotiated for more.
Still, now I've stayed another year my wife and I have moved to the flat upstairs which is extremely spacious, and overall I'm very happy with my living conditions - I'd be paying the equivalent of 15,000 a month just for the rent on this flat if I was back in the uK. |

I know everyone hates detests and loathes EF but they pay 5000 to start, 5500 after 3 months, 6000 after 6 months, and 7000 after a year. The accommodation is full of goodies, you can have friends stay, you can stay out all night without curfew, as it's private apartments, fares are paid, holidays are paid, health insurance is paid, bla bla de bla. Yea and I know 'some' teachers have a lot of hours of teaching in 'some' EF schools.
And the DoSes get 9000 and I've just been offered (after 6 months) an incentive to stay, not by EF but the investors, of rather a sizeable increase. Not sure I want to stay, but I don't think that's too bad. |

| The teachers that signed up again at my last school got zilch but they did get their two months summer break fully paid as an incentive. Anyone any thoughts on that? |

Well of course that depends on whether they were earning decent money in the first place. I guess if they chose to come back, then they were?
Meanwhile I've got a cold I keep hoping I'll lose my voice and be 'forced' to take a sickie, but I keep being able to croak at an acceptable level...
I've decided to go officially into 'leaving mode' - planning final lessons and preparing to make my getaway. Whether or not I come back here next year is still undecided (though I'm leaning towards yes), but the idea of a nice long break in the NZ summer is highly appealing at the moment.
Mmm... blue sky, clean air, foot-long meatball Subs... |
