At the language schools in New York City the dress code was very strict. I got called on the carpet twice. The first time, I had tweed trousers, colored cotton shirt and open toed flats.
The second time was at a different school. I was wearing a pink cotton skirt that hit just below the knee and a pink top. I was called into the office and the manager said,"Haven't you read the teacher's manual?"
I said, "yes"....and?
"No denim skirts are permitted"
I was completely puzzled. "this?" as I touched my favorite skirt. "This isn't even denim"
"Well, it looks like denim"
Needless to say, I was pissed.
The other issue at the school was no hats, even dress hats or stocking caps allowed in the school. A long time teacher got so pissed one day, he just wore it and got fired right on the spot. |

Maybe you shouldn't drink so much at school, eh? (only kidding)
Dress code for me in China is pretty relaxed. Jeans, shoes, polo shirt. Beats wearing a shirt & tie.
