Well, I'm in China. Been here for a week. My job is great and I'm really glad I waited as long as I did. They have a well designed curriculum (based primarily on power point presentations that utilize movies, sound wave files, and interactive activities) in place that is constantly being updated. While I am not designing from scratch, I am free to edit each lesson to suit my own particular needs and the designers ask for the three foreigners' input regularly. So far I've just been teaching practice classes and getting feedback on how to improve my teaching style and the flow of the classes, but today I teach my first real class to a group of businessmen. And all of my coworkers are funny and nice people.
So, for all those who say jump right in... I would say, sure if ya want. But waiting can pay off too.
My apartment is top notch compared to what I lived in while in Korea. I've actually got more than one room here! The only downfall of the entire experience so far has been that my neighborhood isn't too good. Construction everywhere (par for the course I guess), poorly lit at night, and a bit far from both work and places to hang out.
Anyway, it's all (mostly) good... |
