Hi D,
Did you know there are more people behind bars in California than in all of Europe? |

Hey! I resent that! I think the Canada division should be drawn along the East/West lines....
Something like:
o Western Secession provinces (from Saskatchewan to B.C.) -- the ones that want to (and economically COULD) secede from Canada
o Eastern provinces that rely on transfer payments from the West to survive but aside from that, don't give a moose's poop about what goes on there..
No? Yeah, I thought not! |
I agree wholeheartedly. |

I would divide the United (or not so United at this point) States up as:
1. Coastal-State America.
2. Inland-State America.*
*See also Red vs. Blue States.
In that case, Southern California for the win! |

NO NO NO!
It's bad enough that I have to admit that I'm almost from Arkansas but to have to admit I'm from a inland (fly-over) state as well. It's insult to injury. It was a sad day when I realised that I could reference where I grew up to people by saying it was close to Branson, Missouri. If we are dividing people up by linguistics then I'll need to be my own catagory. Here is an actual quote from my great-aunt I heard just last Sunday. "I reckon I ain't got no idee whether Mabel came up yonder and sat a spell." I'm told it's some form of English.... |

How could you possibly lump Ontario in with Quebec and the Maritimes? I mean Ontarians have more in common with the west than the east. Quebec is full of, well, the French, and the Maritimes is, the Maritimes...'nuff said. |

Oh, god, I think we're "from" the same area. I'm almost from Fayetteville, myself. But now I live in California! |

Maybe the original Canadian areas (like Upper and Lower Canada) could be lumped together and the rest could all just fend for themselves.
And Eastern Ontario has far more in common with Western Quebec than Western Canada. But then...Eastern Ontario isn't the GTA (Greater Toronto Area- as in "Greater" than the RoC !) and so they don't count . |

Holy Moonshine, Batman! A fellow Ridgerunner. What do you think, Wintersweet? Should we vote "Southern US" or "US Outside South" go for the most accurate description of the Ozarks and vote "Other"? How's them cement ponds out in Californy? I've tried to escape many times. Alaska, Kansas City, Santa Fe. My latest attempt is, of course, Japan. Hopefully, it's far enough away that I can escape the Ozark gravity well. |

| Yeah, life is funny. After I graduated from college, my old college roommate (who was from Alaska) said, "Come up with me and work in a fish cannery." I had my mouth open to say 'Hell No!" but then I thought, 'When you're sixty-five and hadn't done this, you'll regret it." So I worked three fishing seasons in Homer, Alaska. It was really quite beautiful. er... except for the smell. Actually, the main profit making enterprise of the place was selling sujiko(sp?) to the Japanese. I'd do it again but my body has gotten too old to do 15-16 hour days anymore. That and I really lost my shirt that last year. |

OK, Mr. Payne...
I personally would like to hear your reasoning for dissing the Maritimes. Your very words alone would tend to classify the type of people coming out of the Toronto area, would they not? Or is that just a generalization?

Well first off that's Dr. Payne not Mister...secondly, your absolutely right, I was just ruffling feathers and playing the part of the Toronto-is-the-centre-of-the-universe guy because its fun. By the way, does anybody actually work in Newfoundland? Does New Brunswick and PEI actually exist? |
