| I have never said that it is legal per se as your posts indicate. |
Did you ever write that working illegally in Shanghai with an F-Visa was a "big advantage?" Or did you not mean that "per se" as well?
It appears that the answer to my earlier question is a loud and resounding "No."

Your difficulty in adequately defending what you post here, at times, or in being able to admit when you are wrong, does not constitute arrogance on the part of the those who challenge you on it.
Doc
PS. Be prepared folks for what should prove to be a rather interesting and creative explanation as to what else was intended by the term "big advantage." Undoubtedly, a good deal of the explanation will lie in some personality fault or committed error on my part. |

To the OP,
Summer English camps are a great way to go. Many are pretty intense, but you can be kept busy for awhile and then, with the bag o' money you make from the camp, travel. Or, just travel around China for a bit and the recoup your losses by teaching at the end of the summer.
I came to China to teach for an outfit called AES - they advertise in the jobs section here from time to time. They handled my visa matters in a professional and pretty efficient manner, and they paid me on time. I worked with two ABC's and I myself am black, and I had no problems based on my race while working there, in fact the staff (both foreign and Chinese) were quite kind to me. My salary for 7 weeks of work paid for nearly that much time traveling, and I was doing this alone - if you come with your friends then you can save a lot on traveling costs.
I don't think they have schools in any megapolis of China, but I enjoyed my time in Mayberry, for what its worth. I had such a good time after teaching for them that I decided to extend my initial stay by a year.
If you aren't wedded to teaching, I bet you could get a part-time job or an internship of some sort in Shanghai or Beijing. Like Talkdoc said, a brand name education and being bilingual will open lots of doors for you. You might want to search thats magazine or post your credentials there, just make sure you mention that you aren't looking for big bucks and I bet someone will take you on.

Good luck to you! I wish I'd had the sense to spend my summers abroad when I was in college, instead of waiting tables and playing pool. |
