I am hoping to work near CKS park.

Can anyone recommend a school in that area?

School 4 near Roosevelt and Hsin Hseng South Rd has an adult and kids department. That's about 3 MRT stops or a 7 minute scooter ride from CKS.

The adult dept is run by a guy named Nigel. Personally, I like him. A decent chap. He has taken alot of flak on these boards in the past, but it is presumed that the majority of it came from 1 very disgruntled ex-teacher.

The kids dept is run by the queen of all dragonladies and you should avoid it like the plague. I cannot stress this enough. Work there and you will have a terrible year. I gaurantee it.

And yes, you can expect to teach until 10PM every day.

That said, TaiChi classes happen every morning at every park in this land. You will have no problem fitting it into your schedule.

Is this standard at most schools?

I'm asking because I already know who I want to study Tai Chi with and his class starts at 8pm.

I'm still trying to figure out how many I should work.

I'm told if I teach children I can get off early.

What do you think?

If you want to be going to class at 8pm then you should be considering teaching preschool. Kojen have preschool, and although you may be required to teach a couple of elementary classes as well you should be done by 6pm each day.

Thanks.

Studying Tai Chi, well actually it is Bagua, is one of main goals for being in Taipei.

So you're all given me some good things to consider.

Perhaps I should shop around a little more.

I understand Hess has a lot of kindergarten classes. I have a lot of experience teaching the little ones.

Is anyone doing this with all their evening free?

I don't mind working a lot as long as I am free by 8pm.

Afterall Bagua is a very rare internal style.

You will not be considered for a preschool position with HESS unless you have actual teaching qualifications or have already been working for them for a year or so. They will also try to send you off to some small town in the middle of nowhere. That aside, you may be lucky enough to chance upon a preschool position in your general area.

You probably should know that it is illegal to teach in preschools here. But it is very common.
