Ok, so what I'm going to do is talk to the mther at the next class (Saturday), and suggest that we split the class. If she refuses, I will try to teach them together (taking into account Stephenjones's suggestion), and see how it goes. The reason I'm doing this is because I have known these kids for a fairly long time, and I completely feel they're deserving of my efforts. At their school, the kids don't have much opportunity to practise their English, so I'm willing to give them any help I can.

However, if the situation becomes clearly untenable, then I'll back off - there's no point putting myself through hell for 1 hour each week!!

Girl Scout - thanks, those conversation topics are perfect.

Dyak, Glenski - I totally see your point, and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm fond of the kids, I'd never have taken the job. However, I WANT to work with them - they're good kids, and they just don't get the chance in class. So, as I said, unless the situation becomes too bad for all of us, I'm just gonna grin and bear it, and do my best for them. Hopefully, that will include persuading their mother to allow split classes!!

Thanks for all the help, guys
