Idea Come to sunny Brighton, where you can promenade with an ice cream, have you fortune read at the Palace Pier, shake your head sadly over the charred remains of the West Pier, shop for, you know, stuff, in the famous Lanes and then indulge your appetite at one of our 400 cafes, bars and restaurants! Idea

Brought to you by the Brighton Marketing Board.

Japan has a certain appeal, and if it's in October or November, there's a 22.5% chance that I'll be able to make it...

Certainly will! Never could resist an offer of beer. I'll be based in Tokyo, but according to my map Sendai is only a couple of inches to the North-East...

Dear R,
Well, how about two convention sites - an Eastern and a Western one ( and never the twain shall meet )? And, since you'll likely be in Japan, can we use your place in perfidious Albion for the Western venue? We'll clean up afterwards, promise ( perhaps that last should be on the thread " Myths of Our Time " ).
Regards,
John

Who's handling the catering? We've got to make sure that we accomodate special dietary needs: meatless dishes for the vegetarians, non-alcoholic beverages for the teatotalers (all three of them), and some nice fresh backpackers for scot47 to snack on.

Dear Irish,
Three teetotalers? And who, pray tell, is the third - in addition to scot47 and me?

John

You can add me to the list of - isn't it teetotaler? But then I do drink tea, so teatotaler is more accurate for me personally

Number three is our resident Japan sage, Glenski. You three wise men can sit on the side and click your tongues at the rest of us as we stagger about in our alcohol-soaked haze. (Although, in my case, a big night of drinking means all of three pints of lager.)

veiledsentiments: Yes, you're right about the spelling. Must've been a Freudian slip on my part. That, or I'm getting lazy. It's not the booze, I swear!

Dear Irish and fellow tee/teastotaler veiledsentiments,
Wow - 4 of us. Who would've thunk it? So, 3 wise guys ( ah, sorry - men ) and 1 wise lady. Click our tongues? Not at all - we'll be clicking our camera shutters. Blackmail is such a profitable sideline.
Regards,
John

Sorry, John, but--wanton woman that I am--blackmail won't work on me. However, I might be interested in purchasing a few candid shots to send out with my Christmas cards this year.
