Unless one of you is an EU citizen you are going to find it difficult to get a work permit.

When the poster suggest other countries with International Schools I think they were suggesting somewhere like Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Japan (perhaps Korea)--countries that are developed, adequately compensate higher education, but don't keep North American's out to protect local jobs (which the EU and some of the other Asian countries do).

I recommend Suzhou, we have a large international School, Suzhou Singapore International School, Its one hour from Shanghai, and is alot cheaper and cleaner, there is lots of ex-parts from all over the world, and quite a few people with children.
But if I didn't have to earn alot of money, I'd just teach esl in a beautiful spot in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand China.

As I have noted before, a rather ...er... “open” approach to the accepted traditions of grammar at Singapore International School it seems.

Hi there

I have been in China for four years with my three children. PM me and I will give you the real run down of life in China with kids. It's great. Leave Europe alone and come here. You won't regret it. Please don't listen to the sh#t they tell you about chemicals in the food, bad air and nonsense like that.
China has no more and no less than many other cities in the world. There are places here that are cleaner than many western cities. The place I live in has the cleanest air in China, so you don't have to go teach in Shenyang or places like that.
Your child can attend a regular government school. She will pick up the language in six months, my 10 year old daughter did. Why would any FT want to send their child to an intl school. After all, why not learn the langauge if you come here. It can only be beneficial to have a child who is fleunt in English and Manderin.
And yes, spare me the lectures on the sh$tty quality of public Chinese schools. I take the responsibility of educating my daughter as well, after she comes home from school each day to ensure that she receives a quality education.
