[This is another example of the phenomona that I am yet to understand - if these posters hate Taiwan so much, and hold the users of the Taiwan forum in such contempt, then why come to this forum. I just don't understand it, but it certainly seems to say a lot more about the integrity (or lack thereof) of these individuals than it does about the users that actually use this forum regularly and actually offer information, rather than try to drag others down in their own bitterness.]

I call it the Howard Stern syndrome. Oh well. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and the right to express it. Just take it with a grain of salt. For the most part this forum is extremly helpful. Thank you everyone.

I don't think it is a matter of people here hating Taiwan.
On the contrary I think the people on this board care a great deal about the island of Taiwan, it's people and our place on this island.
There are large numbers of people who leave Taiwan hating this place because of the actions of a few of the most corrupt inhabitants and never return. Then there are so many people who just don't care one way or the other.
Think of it as "necessary dissent". Before you can fix a problem it has to be identified as a problem. On Taiwan there are so many problems that are intertwined with each other that identification becomes difficult. Add to that the racist and bigotry polices of the government of the republic of China on Taiwan and start to get a clearer picture of what it is that is going on around you on Taiwan.
Welcome to Taiwan!
A.

Assuming that the above philosophy holds true, I would like to know what steps SSET has taken to making the island of Taiwan a better place for us all.

I may have misunderstood your purpose in posting on this board, but the gist that I get from your posts is that you feel people in Taiwan are dishonest and lawless and therefore it is in our best interests to rip them off before they rip us off. Please correct me if I am wrong here. If I am right however, then I fail to see how a 'when in Rome do as the Romans do' attitude is actually improving the situation or protecting us in any way.
