I suppose the jobs will dry up, too but it's not as simple as that. "Diversification" has been the buzz-word in the ME Economy for many years as all the oil-based states have been trying to reduce their dependence on it. Bahrain, for example, has been without oil for some time now but is still managing to keep a fairly strong economy and a few OK teaching jobs. The UAE and Qatar are developing alternative industries and services at a tremendous rate.
There's still quite a way to go before the boom that started with oil comes to an end. |

true. I'm sure I heard that Qatar has enough natural gas for another 500 years. |

Yes, we always hear those rosy predictions of how long the oil or gas will last. But, then you have big oil companies like Shell coming out and admitting that their 'supposed' reserves were significantly lower than they had been reporting in their financial statements.
But, I doubt that most of the Gulf will run out in the teaching career span of anyone reading here today. Only Oman is reaching the end of their known reserves... and that 'end' has actually been moved forward a few times as they find a bit more.
So, your jobs are safe for now.
