Also, find out the expected grade distribution at your school. Often, they have a rough expectation such as 5-10 % A's, 80 % B's or C's and 5-10 %
low grades/fail. If you deviate too far from this they will ask you to "reconsider".
Ask if they use grades or %'s, too. |

My current situation is somewhat similar to the OPs.
The agency/school that I work for is requiring that all the FTs individually examine all of their students. In my particular case this amounts to approximately 800 middle school students (I teach 24 classes per week).
Having no recourse to refuse, or ask for additional money, I have been conducting such exams for the past three weeks. I examine about 15-20 students per class by asking them to read a brief English passage based upon the characters in their English textbook. I grade them upon correct pronunciation and two level specific comprehension questions.
It's boring repetitive work--imagine hearing the same passage 100+ times in one day--but it's easy and uncomplicated. |
