Everybody knows somebody with greener grass. And 4000 for 16h is (do a ...damn search) average.

Perhaps if you took a millisecond more in your effort to tear down someone, you'd see that I did search. I simply asked an even simpler question. Amazingly, a lot of people got their panties in a knot about it. Nonetheless, thank you for answering my question: something none of the others even attempted to do.

It is not that we didn't attempt to answer. But you really didn't give us too much information.

Billy,

True, but don't let that get you down.

The others may not have answered your query directly, but don't disregard all the data they tossed around. The more info you have on the scene out here, the better. It is something that will help you negotiate a better deal when it's time to renew your contract.

From my experience, I'll echo Louras' statement that 4K for 16 hours is average.

Good Luck!

Thanks, KateCee. I don't really dismiss what the others offered up, but I feel as though they missed the forrest for the trees when it comes to the "offer" of 4000RMB. I'm not even negotiating with any schools at the moment. I am simply checking things out and getting a feel for what appears to be the status quo, and from 5000RMB jobs in Beijing and Shanghai to 3000rmb in smaller cities, a good 80% of University offers fell around 4500-4000RMB. This is from reading ads. I just wanted something more personal and third party to confirm what I had observed. I have been teaching in Asia for a while now, and I am pretty familiar with the racial, physical and nation based politics in hiring, and what not. Some countries are more discriminatory than others, but the basics are the same throughout the North East region. With this said, I apreciate your advice! Thank you. Very Happy
