Assalaamu Alaykum akhee,
Shukran jazeelan for your reply to my posting. Akhee, I will try whatever possible and never give up - The power of patience and the fire of hope must burn in the hearts of the Mu'mins.
My nationality is British, what about you my brother? Were you also from the UK? If so where from? I used to live down Brick Lane - East London, I have bought up and moved out to Gants Hill now.
Akhee, can you check this site for me and let me know your opinion on their courses www.kepa.org.uk
Shukran Jazeelan

Bro,
First of all, it seems you have taken me for someone from arabic speaking countries. In fact, this is not the case, however, I have been teaching English in Saudi Arabia for the last three years.
I have checked the site of KEPA and have, apparently, found nothing wrong with it...but who knows...What lies in the deep...
I would rather suggest you should go for the degree programmes offered by the well-known universities in UK e.g University of Manchester, University of Birmingham, University of Sheffield and others) All these universities offer excellent degree programmes in the field of TESOL/TESL/ELT/Linguistics. These degree programmes are quite affordable too, especially for the UK (home) student. |

Patience and cosistency are the two most effective weapons of yours when you are fighting against heavy odds. |

Brother there are always obstacles on the right path but dont let them put you off.
I am also in the UK and in a similar situation to yours.
I have heard that if you go to Saudi for Umrah and then check out the language schools in Mecca you might have a chance. I dont know how well this approach would work, but it might be worth a try after doing your research in the UK first.
I have a degree and a TESOL certificate, but I need experience apparently before I can get a job in Saudi.

Wasalaam akhee,
Your position is much better than mine. I don't have a degree, however, some people told me that there are some Language Centres who look for couples only and my wife is willing to teach as well, I am hoping that works as an advantage for me Insha Allah.
Akhee, PM me your e-mail address or mobile number and we can chat later Insha Allah.
Ma Salaama

A while back I remember that Berlitz were advertising for a Muslim married couple to work in Hofuf, Al Hasa. The salary wasn't great but it would let you get started in KSA. |

'Should HAVE been...', not 'should of...'. We cannot follow a modal verb with the use of a preposition, at least not in this context.
Why do so many people make this mistake? |

Bebsi,
You're right, I did realise the mistake after I posted it, but, I didn't want to flood the thread with my messages.
Bebsi, Are there any other reasons other than Pay and Leave entitlement for you to discourage others for applying for positions in Berlitz?

Mohammed, apart from pathetic pay and leave, they expect you to teach around 35 hours a week. |

Grahamb,
Have you ever worked for them in KSA? If so please tell me of your experiences, you can PM me or e-mail me at [email protected] I need to get my foot in the door and gain some middle eastern experience.

Mohammad, my advise to you is not to forget your intentions for coming to KSA. I am assuming you want to come here because you are a muslim and prefer to live in the land of the muslims. If this is your intention you will have to keep reminding yourself of this constantly. I have noticed how desparate some people are to get here. So desparate they are willing to take crappy jobs because the job is only a means to get here. However, once they get here and compare their job and its (non)perks to others, then they are disappointed. Nobody wants to say, " I told you so", just keep that in mind. Especially when you see ppl working less hours than you, with more pay and much better accomadations...Alhamduillah
I'm not sure if I am expressing myself clearly or not. I hope this helps you in some way. |

You should also be aware that many Saudis object to being taught English by a "rafik". They prefer a proper "khawajah" !
This impacts on the willingness of language schookls to hire you ! |
