There are too many of these general TEFL jobs and discussion sites to keep up with already.

It's better to have a site that focuses on a specific country or region like ajarn, mekongesl, tealit, tealic, etc.

I think of Dave's as a conversation. If I'm sitting in my living room talking with a bunch of friends and one says 'hey, I saw this cool site the other day' or even 'I finally got my new site up and running' no problem.
If a friend of mine knows of a good job, I'd hope he'd let me know so I can ask him about it. It has a lot to do with whether the person is a contributing member of the discussion.

Somebody knocks on the door, a total stranger, wearing a slick suit and with prepared advertising materials and tries to sell us something, not cool. Later, we're over at someone else's house and the same dude shows up. Getting annoying.

Non-profit gets a slight break on the annoyance meter, but not a free pass. I have no problem at all with anything in a footer. They are easily ignored.

p.s. How about a word count feature?

That is actually a good point Sigmoid. I thought about it but I decided all of Asia because when I first started my ESL/EFL "career", I couldn't find a reliable site that covers all of Asia (except for Dave's ESL of course) and I wasn't sure where I wanted to end up. Later in my career when I had to post a job offer, I couldn't afford a lot of the big sites.

For a pet project with no income being generated, there has been some interest in the site. In the past 4 days, I have had 85,000 hits, 85 jobs, 30 schools and 15 resumes so thanks to everyone. And a special thanks to Dave for allowing me to post on this site!

Now I have to try to start filling in the general information section and pray that people start to post their resumes.

P.S. Zaneth, I am not really the slick suit kinda person. Wink Doesn't go over well in Thailand with the weather.
