tw, unless you, at the time, had the "Foreign Expert Affairs Invitation Confirmation", in hand, it is far more likely that this processing you are referring was in preparation of your university requesting a "Foreign Experts Affairs Invitation Confirmation" be issued on your behalf. [It seems improbable that they would be issuing you an FEC, before you arrive at your post to work. If that turns out to be the case, yours would be the first, that I've heard of, although just today there was a post that I'm trying to follow up on, on this very question.]
Rather than it being mandated by the rules you have generously translated for us, if you have been required to have a "pre-qualifying" med exam, prior to the issuance of the "Foreign Experts Affairs Invitation Confirmation", yours is the first instance of this, reported to this forum, insofar as I know.
Whether it becomes the norm to require a "pre-qualifyiing" med exam- or it remains a rarity- we will see, over time. For more information on the stages at which a med exam may/may not be requested, see-

tw, I hate to argue but I disagree with your reasoning. I still think that the Chinese government will insist on a medical upon your arrival to China for a couple reasons.
1) It seems that it is some employers who are making the request for a medical, not the government office, therefore it would have to go a case by case basis with the medicals and that doesn't make sense.
2) Remember how much money the school has to pay for your medical. Do you really think that the government will be giving up that income? |
